Chengdu Project

China's first water plant in an international tender under the form of a BOT and approved by the Central Government.

The Chengdu No. 6 Water Plant B project is a Build, Operate & Transfer (BOT) project. It is the first international BOT project for water treatment to be set up in the People's Republic of China with approval from Central Government. The 18-year contract was awarded in 1998 to a consortium formed by Veolia Water and Marubeni Corporation.

The construction and operation of a water treatment plant and intake facilities, along with the installation of a 27-kilometer-long transmission pipe, enables potable water to be distributed to the 2.66 million residents of Chengdu.
