Major 50-year municipal outsourcing contract for water and wastewater services
Shenzhen Project
In December 2003, Veolia Water signed a major contract for municipal outsourcing services with Shenzhen Water Group. The 50-year contract covers the production and distribution of water, customer relations, and the collection and treatment of wastewater.
Shenzhen, located on the border with Hong Kong, is one of China's most important business hubs. Under the terms of the contract, Veolia Water, associated with a partner, the investment company Beijing Capital Group, acquired 45% of Shenzhen Water Group Company Ltd. Veolia Water assures the co-management of Shenzhen Water Group, which has more than 2,300 employees.
